Pinoy-Made Soulslike Unforseen Quests Opens Pre-Registration on Android, With Free DLC for Early Birds

TL;DR: Unforseen Quests, a 2D pixel-art soulslike made by a Filipino solo developer, is now open for pre-registration on Google Play ahead of its January launch. Pre-register now and you get The Far Shore DLC for free.

If you’re the type who enjoys dying to the same boss over and over until you finally crack it, may bago kang pagdurusahan, and this one is gawang Pinoy.

Unforseen Quests is the work of Rondeo, a solo developer from the Philippines, published under the Kreativ Brain label. It’s a 2D pixel-art sidescroller that takes the soulslike formula to your phone: tough enemies, punishing bosses, and progress that comes from getting better, not from grinding. The official trailer, uploaded October 19, describes it as a purely skill-based RPG.

Combat built on reading your enemy

According to Rondeo, combat revolves around reading enemy attacks. You parry, you dodge, and you learn each boss’s tells until you can punish their openings. The Google Play listing adds that parry timing really matters and that enemies adapt as you fight them. In short, walang button mashing dito. Patience and timing win the day.

A world that remembers

The story setup is simple but intriguing: a wandering outsider, a shattered Dial Fragment, and a world that remembers what you’ve done. The areas you pass through leave traces on both ends of the path, so your choices and progress carry over as you explore.

There’s also a home base to return to between runs. Your camp changes shape with every anchor you install, which means coming home should feel a little different each time. You’ll also be forging your own route through areas that grow more corrupted as you go.

What we know so far

  • Platform: Android, via Google Play
  • Launch: January
  • Pre-registration reward: The Far Shore DLC, free for everyone who pre-registers
  • Rating: Teen, for violence and blood
  • Monetization: The listing mentions in-app purchases, but no pricing details yet
  • Privacy: The developer declares that the app collects no user data and shares none with third parties

Why it’s worth a pre-register

Soulslikes built specifically for phones are still a small niche, and one crafted by a single Filipino developer is rarer still. It’s also part of a growing wave of Pinoy solo devs putting their work out there. Earlier this week, we covered The House, another one-person project made by a Filipino developer, and it’s great to see more local talent taking on genres that big studios usually own.

Pre-registering costs nothing, gets you free DLC, and sends a clear signal to a local dev that people are paying attention. Sulit na sulit.

We’ll be keeping an eye on Unforseen Quests and hope to bring you more once it launches in January. Until then, practice those parries, mga ka-PGN.
