TL;DR PinoyGaming.net has a new design. The site now runs on Kapatagan News, a free theme I built for PGN, and we have a new logo based on our original 2008 PG flag logo. Pages are faster, articles are easier to read on your phone, and all our old posts still work.
If PGN looks different today, hindi ka nagkakamali. After many years on the same layout, PinoyGaming.net finally got its biggest makeover since we moved to WordPress back in 2009.
Why we changed
For a long time, PGN ran on Sahifa, a magazine theme that was great in its day. But it was built for how websites looked more than a decade ago: small text, a long homepage where the same story showed up four or five times, and a design that never felt right on phones.
I wanted something modern, but being a solo owner, I can’t spend on premium themes right now. So I did what any IT guy would do: I built one. With help from AI tools, I put together a new theme made specifically for PGN, and it costs us nothing to run. Sakto lang for a one-man team.
The theme is called Kapatagan News, and it’s part of Kapatagan, my small collection of free tools for websites and the community.
What’s new
Here’s what you’ll notice right away:
- Easier to read. Bigger text, comfortable spacing, and a clean dark look that’s easy on the eyes during late-night reading sessions.
- Made for phones first. Most of you read PGN on mobile, so the menu, the homepage and articles were designed for small screens before anything else.
- Faster pages. The site loads less stuff, so pages open quicker even on mobile data.
- No more repeated stories. Every story on the homepage shows up only once, so you see more news per scroll.
- TL;DR boxes. Every article’s quick summary now sits in its own highlighted box at the top. Busy ka? Read the box and you’re good.
- A “New” headline strip. The latest headlines scroll across the top of every page.
- Dev Spotlight gets its own section. Our developer features, especially Filipino devs, now have a highlighted space on the homepage.
Old posts still work
PGN has articles going all the way back to 2008, and many of you still find us through those old Ragnarok, Dekaron and Crazy Kart posts. None of those links changed. Old posts were also cleaned up so leftover code from previous themes doesn’t show, and posts without a featured image now borrow a picture from inside the article.
A new logo, inspired by the original

You may have also noticed our new logo. Some of you remember the old cartoon mascot, but he was actually a later addition. The very first PGN logo was a slanted PG built from the Philippine flag: a blue P with the sun, and a red G with the stars.
The new logo brings that original back, rebuilt for 2026. The PG flag mark is still there, now flatter and bolder, with PINOY in white and GAMING in gold. It’s sharp on phones, works as a tiny browser icon, and feels more like a gaming brand. Medyo nostalgic din for those who’ve been with us since the early days.
Help us test it
We’re running the new design for the next few days before calling it final. If something looks off, like a broken page, a missing image or a weird layout on your phone, let us know in the comments or message us on Facebook. Screenshots help a lot.
PGN has been around since 2008 because of you, and this new look is for you. Salamat sa pagbabasa, and see you on the new PGN!
If you enjoy PGN and want to help keep it running, you can buy us a coffee. Every cup helps a one-man team keep the site going.
