TL;DR: Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That’s just under two weeks from today. There’s no PC version at launch, so PC players will have to wait.
After two delays and years of leaks, trailers, and memes, GTA 6 is finally almost here. Rockstar first confirmed the game back in February 2022. It was pushed from Fall 2025 to May 2026, then again to November 19, 2026. This time the date looks locked.
The essentials
- Release date: November 19, 2026
- Platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S
- PC: Not officially announced yet. Rumors point to early 2027, but nothing’s confirmed.
- Setting: Vice City, Rockstar’s version of Miami
- Leads: Jason and Lucia, the series’ first dual-protagonist duo built around a criminal couple
That launch trailer
Rockstar dropped the official launch trailer on October 15, captured entirely in-game on a standard PS5. It features “Flower in a Hurricane,” a new track from Justice, the duo behind the game’s original score, with Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The trailer passed 51 million views in just four days, beating GTA 5’s launch trailer, which has been up for around 13 years. Grabe.
What to do before launch day
- Clear your storage. Open-world Rockstar games are never small.
- Watch out for scams. Fake pre-order listings and “early access” offers have been circulating. Buy only from official stores and legit retailers.
- Plan your schedule. Some gamers are already filing leave for launch week. No judgment.
- PC players: Hold your money. Don’t buy any “PC version” that shows up before Rockstar officially announces it.
Nintendo’s head start
Interesting timing: Switch 2 got two big releases this week, the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake and Stellar Blade Complete Edition, giving Nintendo two weeks before GTA 6 takes over everyone’s attention. If you’re a console gamer with a budget, November is going to be a tough month for your wallet.
