After eight grueling weeks of regular season action, the MPL Philippines Season 17 Playoffs are finally here, and the stakes have never been this high. Starting May 27 through May 31, 2026, six teams will battle it out at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City for the right to call themselves the best MLBB squad in the Philippines.
But it’s not just a trophy on the line. The top two grand finalists earn a direct ticket to the MLBB Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2026 — which is being held as part of the Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Malaking deal ito, and every team in that bracket knows exactly what’s at stake.

The Six Teams Fighting for the Crown
🥇 SEED 1 — Team Liquid Philippines (TLPH) 13-1 series record | 27W–6L games
Look, there’s not much to debate here. Team Liquid Philippines was the most dominant team in the MPL PH Season 17 regular season — and it wasn’t particularly close. Their only series loss came in Week 6 at the hands of Team Falcons in a narrow 1-2, and they bounced back immediately. They swept Smart Omega, ONIC PH, TNC, and Twisted Minds entirely, finishing with a 13-1 series record and 27 game wins.
The engine of this team remains jungler KarlTzy and midlaner Sanji, two of the most decorated players in Philippine MLBB history. Pero may question mark pa rin — import player AeronnShikii had some early-season instability. How he performs when the lights are brightest will matter.
If there’s a three-peat happening in Philippine MLBB history, TLPH is the team to do it.
The storyline: Can anyone actually stop them — or is this already a foregone conclusion?
🥈 SEED 2 — Team Falcons PH (FLCN) 12-2 series record
This is arguably the most exciting development of the entire Season 17. Team Falcons has never made a serious run at the MPL PH title under their current roster — but this season, they looked like genuine contenders from start to finish.
They finished second overall with a 12-2 series record, making them the only other team besides TLPH to crack double-digit series wins. The roster revamp worked: Hadji, the M3 World Champion, stepped in at midlane and has been a difference-maker. And oh, hindi natin malilimutan — they’re the only team that beat Team Liquid in the entire regular season.
The storyline: Is this finally the season Falcons breaks through and lifts their first MPL PH trophy?
🥉 SEED 3 — ONIC Philippines (ONPH) 9-5 series record | 20-13 games
ONIC didn’t dominate the regular season the way they have in previous years, but they’re still firmly in the conversation. The Super Family has the experience, the coaching, and the firepower to go deep — they just haven’t been as consistently sharp as the top two seeds.
One of the biggest storylines surrounding ONIC this season is import goldlaner Savero from Indonesia. The community’s reaction has been mixed — maraming Pinoy fans ang nagsasabi na may enough na home-grown talent para hindi na kailangan ng imports. But in the playoffs, results speak louder than opinions.
Worth noting: ONIC starts in the Play-Ins, not the Upper Bracket. That means they need to get through Aurora Gaming first — and that’s not a walk in the park.

4TH SEED — Smart Omega (OMG)
Omega missed the playoffs for the past two seasons, so just being here is already a win for the Barangay. But they didn’t just squeak in — they went on a legitimate winning run in the back half of the regular season, including a massive upset win over Team Falcons that snapped an eight-match winning streak.
They’re unlikely to go all the way, but they have the potential to cause serious damage in the Play-Ins and maybe beyond. Pag naka-click ang momentum nila, delikado sila.

5TH SEED — Twisted Minds PH (TWPH)
Twisted Minds qualified by doing what Twisted Minds does best — showing up when it matters most. Their late regular season upset over world champion Aurora Gaming was one of the biggest surprises of S17, and it’s what punched their ticket to the playoffs.
They’re volatile — capable of brilliant games and frustrating collapses in the same series. But sometimes that unpredictability is exactly what makes a team dangerous in a single-elimination play-in match.
6TH SEED — Aurora Gaming PH (RORA) M7 World Champions | 5-9 series record
This is the storyline of the entire playoffs, and you already know it.
Aurora Gaming are the reigning M7 World Champions. They beat the best teams in the world on the biggest stage in MLBB esports — and then came home and went 5-9 in the regular season to finish dead last among the playoff qualifiers. Paano nangyari ‘yan? Nobody has a clean answer.
But here’s the thing about Aurora: they closed the regular season with a reverse sweep over AP Bren, Game 1 loss and all. That’s not a team that’s mentally broken — that’s a team that knows how to flip a switch. If there’s any squad in this bracket that can go from sixth seed to grand finals, it’s them.

The S17 Playoffs use a hybrid elimination format. Here’s how it breaks down:
Play-Ins (May 27) — Single Elimination Seeds 3 through 6 go head-to-head first. Lose here, you’re done — walang second chance.

On paper, TLPH is the overwhelming favorite and it’s hard to argue against them. But this bracket has enough chaos built in — from a world champion sitting at sixth seed to a Falcons squad that’s hungry for their first title — that calling it a guaranteed three-peat feels premature.
Watch the Play-Ins closely. Whoever Aurora Gaming beats on May 27 is probably going to be a problem for whoever they face next.
