TL;DR: Team Philippines’ national esports squad Sibol has finalized its complete lineup for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan (September 23–October 2), competing across seven esports titles. This marks one of the most complete esports delegations the country has ever fielded — and laban talaga this time, not just an exhibition run.
Why This Matters
Esports officially became part of the Asian Games program back in 2023, and the Philippines is once again treating it as a real medal opportunity. Twenty-three nations are competing this year at the Aichi International Exhibition Center in Tokoname, Japan, alongside the full 2026 Asian Games. It’s a big signal that esports is now recognized as a legitimate sport across Asia — hindi na basta-basta “just gaming.”
The Full Sibol Lineup
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang — The most hyped squad by far, since most of the roster comes straight from Team Liquid PH, fresh off their historic three-peat at MPL Philippines Season 17. The lineup includes Sanford Vinuya, KarlTzy Nepomuceno, and Kelra Pillas — names already well-known across the Southeast Asian MLBB scene.
PUBG Mobile (Asian Games version) — Representing the country are FV, Lion, MICHI, Monboy, and RANGE, under coach DehJeh. A solid squad with plenty of international battle royale experience.
Pokémon Unite — Made up of the reigning SEA East Winter Tournament champions: Rubixx, SynC1, Dylan, Kyy, Miva, and Lance, coached by Berty. With that momentum behind them, expectations are high going into the Games.
Naraka: Bladepoint — Richard Espejo, Ouchric Von Teñoso, Kenneth Perez, and Raphaelron Joaquin Paclibar will compete in the team event, with Paclibar also entering the solo bracket.
Identity V, Puyo Puyo Champions, and Honor of Kings also have confirmed Filipino representatives, rounding out the full delegation.
What This Means for the Community
Interesting timing: most of these athletes came up through local leagues like MPL PH and MDL PH, so this is essentially the “national team” version of players the community has been following in the domestic scene all along. It’s also a big push toward legitimizing esports as a real sport in the Philippines, standing alongside basketball, athletics, and other traditional sports at this year’s Games.
No official medal target has been announced yet by the Philippine Olympic Committee for esports specifically, but given the pedigree of squads like the MLBB roster — fresh off a three-peat — expectations are naturally sky-high.
