TL;DR: The MPL PH Season 18 Playoffs run October 21 to 25 at PhilSports Arena in Pasig. Six teams are fighting for the title, a share of the US$150,000 prize pool, and the two Philippine slots at the M8 World Championship in Istanbul. Team Liquid PH is gunning for a historic four-peat, and the first matches start at 3PM today.
It’s playoff week, mga ka-MLBB. The MPL PH Season 18 Playoffs start this afternoon, and this time the league is taking over PhilSports Arena in Pasig, one of the country’s most iconic sports venues. It’s a fitting stage for MLBB’s 10th anniversary year.
The stakes are bigger than just a trophy. The champion and runner-up will represent the Philippines at the M8 World Championship in Istanbul, Turkiye, in January 2027. That’s the first M-Series main event ever held outside Southeast Asia, and the Philippines will be defending a streak of six straight world titles.
The six teams and what’s at stake
- Team Liquid PH finished first in the regular season at 12-2 and is chasing a four-peat after becoming the first team to win three MPL PH titles in a row. KarlTzy and company are also out to bounce back from a disappointing MSC 2026 run.
- Team Falcons PH took second. Since Hadji joined in the mid lane, they’ve looked sharp, pero they’re still looking for that breakthrough after finishing runner-up last season.
- ONIC PH still has K1NGKONG in the jungle, but they haven’t won a series against Liquid or Falcons all season. Kailangan nilang patunayan ang sarili dito.
- Aurora Gaming PH are the reigning M7 world champions, but they come in with a heavily reworked lineup after Edward retired and Demonkite was loaned out.
- Omega Esports have a near-fresh roster that surprised a lot of people in the regular season. They want more than last season’s fourth place.
- TNC Pro Team made the playoffs again despite a rough season. Will this finally be the year the “unli-rice” jokes stop?
Format
The third to sixth seeds start in a single-elimination Round 1, so one bad series and you’re out. Liquid and Falcons get a bye straight into the double-elimination Round 2. Most series are best-of-five, while the Lower Bracket Final and Grand Final are best-of-seven.
