Minecraft Is Getting The Sift, Its First New Dimension in 14+ Years, and You Can Visit It Today

TL;DR: Mojang revealed The Sift at Minecraft Live on September 26. It’s Minecraft’s fourth dimension and the first new one in over 14 years. It officially lands on Java and Bedrock in 2027, but you can explore an early version of it today in Minecraft Dungeons II.

Overworld, Nether, End… and now The Sift

For more than 14 years, ‘yan lang ang tatlong mundo ng Minecraft. Every mob farm, every speedrun, and every “pare, nasaan ba ‘yung stronghold?” moment on your barkada server happened across just those three. The End was the last new dimension Mojang added, back when the game hit its full release.

That finally changes with The Sift. Mojang describes it as “beautiful, vibrant, and teeming with souls.” The short teaser at Minecraft Live gave us a first look: pink grass, a bright turquoise sky, and a bunny-like mob that walks instead of hops. Cute, pero knowing Minecraft, siguradong may hostile mob na naghihintay diyan somewhere.

It’s a completely different vibe from the fiery Nether or the dark, empty End. After years of the same color palette, a pastel dimension is a genuinely fresh direction for the game.

You can visit it today, sort of

Here’s the twist: you don’t have to wait until 2027 to see it. The Sift is a central setting in Minecraft Dungeons II, which launches today, September 29.

The sequel drops the level-based missions of the first Dungeons in favor of one big interconnected world, plus a new jump mechanic for getting around. Rifts appear throughout that world, and stepping into one takes you straight into The Sift.

The Dungeons version comes with some new rules:

• Shifting tides affect your character and the players around you, so your co-op squad feels it too.
• Hazardous new blocks change how you approach exploration.
• New mobs show up as both friendly companions and threats, all unique to the dimension.
• Two areas are confirmed so far: a meadow biome built around red sculk, and the Carapace, a desert dotted with strange blue walls and giant hollow fossils.

Red sculk pa lang, curious na kami. Mojang is keeping the other areas secret for players to discover themselves.

One important catch: Mojang says the Dungeons II version of The Sift may differ quite a bit from what eventually arrives in the main game. So isipin mo siya as a preview, hindi final blueprint.

What about Java and Bedrock?

The Sift is coming to both Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027, though there’s no exact date yet. Bedrock covers mobile, so MCPE players on their phones get the new dimension too. That matters here, since a big chunk of the Pinoy Minecraft community plays on mobile.

Mojang also showed a brief in-development look at The Sift running in the main game, including a portal and one of its native mobs. How you’ll actually get there in vanilla Minecraft is still under wraps. Expect more details at future Minecraft Live events.

Other Minecraft Live reveals worth knowing

The Sift was the headline, but it wasn’t the only announcement:

• Ice caves are coming in the next game drop. It’s a rare underground biome beneath cold areas, with calcite, icicles hanging from the ceiling, and glowing ice crystals on the ground. It also brings a new frozen zombie variant that adds a freezing effect on hit, and some of them throw ice balls from range. There’s no release date yet, but preview builds are coming soon.
• Minecraft arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27.
• Minecraft World, a real-life theme park and hotel, opens at Chessington World of Adventures in London in 2027. It includes a Minecraft-themed hotel and “Escape the Nether,” billed as the world’s first Minecraft rollercoaster. Medyo malayo sa atin, pero pang-bucket list ‘yan.

Why this matters

Minecraft gets updates all the time: new mobs, new biomes, new blocks. A new dimension is a different level of change, because it can reshape how players progress, farm, and explore. The Nether and the End each became core parts of the game, and The Sift has the chance to do the same.

If you want a taste now, Dungeons II is out today. If you’re a pure survival player, start clearing space on your server, because 2027 is going to be interesting.
