2 Free Halloween Puzzle Games to Play on Your Phone This Undas Weekend

TL;DR: Two indie devs sent us small, free puzzle games just in time for Halloween. Memory • Halloween is a spooky pair-matching game for iPhone and iPad, and Circuit Sort: Screw Puzzle has a Halloween cup in Arcade mode, but it ends tonight. Both are free, and both are made by solo developers.

Halloween fell on a Saturday this year, and with Undas right after it, a lot of us are on the road, in the province, or waiting around at the sementeryo with family. That’s prime phone-gaming time. Hindi kailangan ng mabigat na game for this. Something quick, free, and easy to put down is perfect.

Two indie developers reached out to Pinoy Gaming Network this week with exactly that. Here they are.

Memory • Halloween (iPhone/iPad)

Memory • Halloween is made by Clément Marty, an independent developer under the name VisionApps. It’s the classic memory game: flip the cards, find the matching pairs. This version is dressed up for the season with pumpkins, ghosts and witches.

What makes it more than a simple flip-the-cards app:

  • 25 difficulty levels, so it starts easy and gets harder the more you play
  • Optional Time Attack mode if you want to race the clock
  • Two-player mode on one device: take turns on the same iPhone or iPad
  • Free, no in-app purchases, and the developer says ads are currently switched off

The two-player mode is the one we’d point out for this weekend. Pass the phone to a pamangkin, a kapatid, or whoever’s sitting next to you, and you’ve got a quick pair-matching showdown.

Clément told us he found PGN through our recent article on Dusk Climber and Doodle, Please!, two other indie iPhone games we covered. Love that the indie dev community is finding us this way.

The game needs iOS or iPadOS 17 or later. It’s available now on the Philippine App Store.

Circuit Sort: Screw Puzzle (iOS/Android)

Circuit Sort: Screw Puzzle is by Brock Hall, a solo indie developer who built it in the Godot engine. Instead of the usual fruit or candy, you’re working on old electronics. You unscrew colored screws from vintage circuit boards and sort them into matching bins. The catch: you need to plan your moves before the board jams up.

Brock said he picked the fixing-old-electronics theme because he wanted a puzzle game that felt different from the rest, with a bit of nostalgia. For anyone who grew up opening old radios or computers to see what’s inside, medyo relatable ito.

Here’s what’s in the game:

  • 175+ levels in the main mode
  • Arcade mode, inspired by old arcade games
  • Daily Challenge for a quick puzzle every day
  • Translated into 26 languages
  • Free to play on iPhone, iPad and Android

The Halloween hook: through October 31, Arcade mode has a special Halloween “Endless Cascade” cup. That means today is the last day to try it, so if you want in, download it now and head straight to Arcade.

Circuit Sort is on Google Play and the App Store.

Small games, solo devs

Neither of these is a big-budget release, and that’s the point. Both are made by one-person teams, both are free, and both fit easily into a long drive or a quiet night. Kung naghahanap ka ng light na laro this Halloween at Undas, try them out and support the indie devs behind them.
