TL;DR: Monster Hunter Outlanders, the open-world mobile Monster Hunter made by TiMi Studio Group under license from Capcom, launches on October 29 for Android and iOS. Garena is publishing it in the Philippines, Malaysia, and Singapore. It’s free-to-play, pre-registration is open, and the community has already unlocked a free Adventurer. Heads-up lang: this one looks heavy on specs, so check your phone first.
Finally, a full Monster Hunter you can play on your phone
Monster Hunter has been on mobile before. There’s Monster Hunter Now, the walk-around AR game, and Monster Hunter Puzzles. Pero iba ito. Outlanders brings the full hunting loop to your phone: track a monster, fight it, carve it, then craft better gear from what you took.
The game is set on a brand-new island called Aesoland, with its own story, original characters, and monsters you won’t find anywhere else in the series. TiMi Studio Group is the developer, the same studio behind Call of Duty: Mobile and Honor of Kings. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto has said the game is being made under Capcom’s supervision.
It’s been almost two years since Outlanders was first revealed in November 2024, so for longtime hunters, this launch has been a long wait.
Why Pinoy hunters should care
Garena handling the game here is a big deal. It’s a familiar name for Filipino mobile gamers, and a local publisher usually means local events and support. Garena hasn’t announced PH-specific launch plans yet, though, so we’ll keep an eye out.
The bigger hook is co-op. Monster Hunter has always been best with friends, and now your barkada can take on a hunt from wherever they are, no console or PC needed. Hunts are reportedly built shorter for mobile, often under five minutes, so a quick session during break time is actually doable.
What’s in the game at launch
- Classic weapons, plus the Charge Blade. TiMi producer Dong Huang confirmed the Charge Blade will be part of the launch lineup.
- An original Elder Dragon. Ruger Aidal is the game’s flagship monster, a radiant, sun-like dragon made only for Outlanders. Familiar faces like Rathalos and Pink Rathian are also in.
- Adventurers and Buddies. Instead of one custom hunter, you collect Adventurers with their own classes and weapons. Pyro, for example, is a Great Sword user built around absorbing hits for big burst damage. Buddies are your hunting companions.
- Gathering and base building. You can collect resources and build facilities as you explore.
- Two control modes. Classic mode follows the mainline controls, while Adventure mode uses fewer buttons to help newcomers get the hang of things.
Pre-registration rewards
Garena’s global pre-registration milestones, as shown on the official site:
- 5 million: 5 Standard Contracts and 5,000 Zenny (already unlocked)
- 10 million: Adventurer Raya (already unlocked)
- 15 million: 5 Standard Contracts and 20 Growth Concentrate
- 20 million: 5 Standard Contracts and 20 Aqua Dew
- Social bonus: 5 Standard Contracts once the official social pages hit 2 million followers
You can pre-register on Google Play, the App Store, or the official Garena site. Pre-registering on the stores also lets your phone download the game automatically once it’s live.
Check your phone muna
This isn’t a game for budget phones. Requirements reported from the closed beta call for Android 12 or later, 8GB of RAM, and a Snapdragon 888-class chip or better. On iOS, you need iOS 17 and an iPhone 12 or newer. Plan for around 40GB of free storage, and note that tablets, foldables, and emulators were not supported in testing.
These numbers aren’t final yet, so double-check the store listing before launch day.
Should you pre-register?
It’s free, and the rewards get bigger as more people sign up. If your phone can handle it, there’s no reason not to. Sino na sa inyo ang may hunting squad na ready for October 29?
