TL;DR: Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is out today, October 29. You get 60FPS, sharper visuals, cross-play with original Switch players, and a 54-fighter roster that includes the seven Infinity Castle characters. If you already own the game on Switch, the upgrade is free, but the Infinity Castle Character Pass is sold separately. And starting November 10, you can buy it straight from the new Philippine eShop.
Hinokami Chronicles 2 isn’t a new game. It first came out in August 2025 on PS5, PS4, Xbox, Steam, and the original Switch. What’s new today is the version Switch 2 owners have been waiting for, and it’s the best way to play it on a Nintendo console so far.
What’s better on Switch 2
- 60FPS: a big deal for an arena fighter, where every dodge and counter depends on timing
- Higher-quality visuals than the original Switch version
- 2-player local and online VS Mode
- Cross-gen play, so Switch 2 players can fight friends still on the original Switch
That last one matters for barkada. Kung naka-Switch 1 pa si tropa, pwede pa rin kayong mag-VS.
The Infinity Castle seven
The Switch 2 Edition’s VS Mode includes all 54 characters released for the game so far. That includes the seven from the Infinity Castle Character Pass, which is bundled with the physical edition:
- Tanjiro Kamado (Infinity Castle)
- Zenitsu Agatsuma (Infinity Castle)
- Giyu Tomioka (Infinity Castle)
- Shinobu Kocho (Infinity Castle)
- Akaza (Infinity Castle)
- Doma
- Kaigaku
If you watched the Infinity Castle movie in cinemas, alam mo na kung bakit exciting ang lineup na ‘yan. Akaza and Doma alone are worth the price of admission.
Free upgrade, with one catch

Own Hinokami Chronicles 2 on the original Switch, digital or physical? You can move to the Switch 2 Edition at no extra cost with a free upgrade pass. The catch: the Infinity Castle Character Pass isn’t part of the upgrade, so you’ll need to buy it separately on the Nintendo eShop if you want those seven fighters.
There are also bonuses if you have older Demon Slayer save data on your Switch:
- The Hinokami Chronicles save data: six Kimetsu Academy character unlock keys (Academy Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Giyu, and Shinobu)
- Sweep the Board! save data: Hinatsuru, Makio, and Suma as one playable character, plus a kimono battle attire for them
How much is it?
- Physical Switch 2 Edition (Infinity Castle Character Pass included): starts at US$59.99
- Digital Ultimate Edition: US$64.99
- Digital Standard Edition: US$39.99
Local prices usually land a bit higher than US SRP, so check your go-to game shop before you buy. Kung may nakita kayong magandang deal, share niyo sa comments.
Not on Switch 2? Good news din. SEGA has permanently dropped the price of both Hinokami Chronicles games to US$39.99 for the standard edition and US$49.99 for the deluxe, on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and the original Switch.
Going digital? Wait for November 10
For years, buying digital Switch games here meant making a US or Japan account and paying through a foreign eShop. That ends soon. Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online officially launch in the Philippines on November 10, 2026, for both Switch 2 and Switch.
- Buy directly from a Philippine eShop, no more region-hopping just to get a digital copy
- Heads-up for US/JP account users: once the local store opens, PH-issued bank cards reportedly won’t work on foreign eShops anymore. You’ll need eShop gift cards to keep buying from other regions
- Still unannounced: peso prices and payment options. Wala pang kumpirmasyon kung kasama ang GCash o Maya
So kung digital ang plano mo, Hinokami Chronicles 2 could be one of your first buys from the PH eShop. We’ll update you once Nintendo shares local prices.
