The Game

PVP

Aside from adventuring and killing monsters, Rohan Online allows you to strike any player you see in game provided both of you are at least level 30.

Players who kill you will be included into your hit list. all 50 killers will be added automatically and whenever you want your revenge then you can just activate their name and you will be teleported right next to him for you to deal your strike. Ambush to max na ito hehe because you can attack your killer while he’s alone and low in resources.

Kaya ngayon nakaganti ka na at pinag-tatawanan mo ang pinatay mo, actually that doesn’t end there. That player may still teleport back to you together with a party! Pare pwede magsama ng party dito haha. The Player can bring along a party or even the whole guild for revenge until eventually this simple feud becomes massive. Township Battle

You want a bigger battle? Rohan Online features Township Battle similar to Perfect World’s Territorial Battle wherein your guild may engage other guilds in battle inside a pre-defined map. Whoever wins the battle gets the town you select. You will be able to govern a town you occupy and will have the opportunity to impose tax on everyone who utilize resources in it until other guilds successfully defeat you in the next Township Battle over the town you occupy. Township Battles are scheduled once each week.

Classes

Rohal features 6 classes to choose from. Each class is what we commonly see in other games but two distinct classes are set to change gameplay – the Dhan and Dekan.

Dhans and Dekans are created with one prime objective: to kill you! Both of them can transform into a monster which for you maybe a normal monster to level with. But beware since they are actually players disguised as monsters, they are smarter, tougher, and unpredictable. Didn’t I tell you this game is more on PVP!? Kaya wag kang basta-basta titira ng monster at baka bigla magsalita yan ng “asa!”.

• Human (Knight) – Created by the God Hand, humans are perfectly suited for the role of knight. Being a tank by absorbing enemy damage to keep fellow players alive portrays the actions of a human in this game. These brute warriors seem to be in the center of battles due to their incredible defense and their determination to fight for what they believe in. This could be why humans are one of the races in the round table.
• Elf (Healer) – Proficient and gentle souled, elves are your center source of recovery, defense and vitality in Rohan. Especially in parties, elves assists party members with healing and protection. But don’t be fooled, a fury of ranged magic attacks can be unleashed when alone. These elves are one of the three races in the peace assured round table.
• Half Elf (Archer) – These masters of bow/crossbows are the offspring of both humans and elves. From being shunned by their forefathers, half elves or halflings, resorted in forests where they became the ultimate hunters. Able to be used in parties or solo, this race’s accuracy is unmatched. Using magic in some of their attacks, half elves eventually joined the peace assured round table and accepted by the humans and elves.
• Dhan (Assassin) – First lead by the prophet Haillok, Dhans, one of six races in the game, are a unique and special breed. They can choose to become anonymous killers who prey on other players for experience, this is called the assassination mode. However, they cannot party with others or join quests while in this mode, nor can they be identified by their victims for revenge. Dhans are renegade assassins that generally operate alone, and will kill at every opportunity.[6]
• Dekan (Dragon Fighter) – Originally stationed at the borders of the countries by Ohn to prevent any cultures from blending, the Dekans defy nature. Clashing with Dhans in the Bahran islands, made the Dekans mass their strength and increase their power. Usually fighting alone, the Dekan race may transform into a dragon, use a blood sucking ability or attack large area’s of land, Dekans are found to be a lone powerhouse.
• Dark Elf (Mage) – Mysterious and cautious about their self-defense, Dark Elves use a series of powerful magic attacks. Not much is known about the dark elves but their transportation and weakening powers are well known around Rohan. Excelling in group battles, Dark elves have the ability to kill an enemy before it reach’s them. Although not much is known, Dark elves have a strong despise for the human and elf race. This races main goal seems to be to drive the elves and humans out of their land.

Introduction

First there was PVP, then WoE, then WoE 2.0, now there is Battlegrounds. What is battlegrounds you ask? What is this new thing Ragnarok Online offers that players are going gaga over? Read on kapatid and find out!
Ragnarok Online Battlegrounds is basically a PVP arena with the same skill and damage rules as WoE, only it offers so much more than the sheer fun of owning a castle (agit). To give us a better idea of what it is exactly let’s start with the background story.

The Battlegrounds or BG for people who want to save typing space, was started by two princes who are at war with each other. Croix and Guillarme are their names and they absolutely hate each other’s guts. They are calling for all midgard citizens above the level 80 to fight for them . The fights range from guardian wars to food store domination and yes, it is absolute madness.

But you’re not really here to learn about the story here are you? You’re here for the gameplay, so here we go!
Gameplay

To enter the Battlegrounds, you need to talk to an NPC located in most major Midgard Cities. They are usually located near the most prominent Kafra employee of that city. In the case of Prontera, its behind the house near the mid most kafra. In payon, it’s just next to the kafra and the hypermart NPC.

Once inside, (there is no entrance fee, it’s all free) you choose one of two sides, Croix or Guillarme. If you want Guillarme, you go north (pataas) and if you want Croix you go south (pababa). For now, don’t mind the other NPCs.

For this guide, we will choose Croix. When you head south, you will see 4 pairs (8 NPCS) standing behind 4 counters, the entrance NPC and the knight. The knight offers you tips on how to play the game the other dude lets you into the waiting room of the arena.

You will notice that there are names on each pair of NPCs. One name is Tierra and the other is Flavius. Think of these as game modes which we will discuss later. For each side there are 4 rooms represented by the 4 pairs of NPCS. On the very left is Tierra the next is a Flavius, then another Tierra and lastly a Flavius. Bakit inuulit? This is because there may be a lot of people who want to play one game mode, so the developers of ragnarok chose to give us 2 rooms per game mode. 2 Tierras and 2 Flavviuses.

How do I know which one to enter? Let’s discuss game modes then.

Tierra

Tierra is the most popular Battleground game mode today. I literally see dozens of people waiting outside the Tierra game room just itching to go PVP. Tierra runs on WoE skill and damage rules. So every banned skill in WoE is banned in Tierra, skills such as endure.

When you enter the Tierra waiting room, you will notice an NPC with a pub called Battle Station. Enter it. When inside, you will have to wait for 19 people to enter the room on your side (Croix) and 19 on your opponents side (Guillarme). Once that’s done, you will be instantly transported to the Tierra battle arena. You are on the boat, that’s your side’s spawn point. On the center of the map there’s a flag on the lower left, there’s a circle, that’s your camp where your food storage is. Opposite to that, on the upper left of the map, is your enemy’s camp.

The object of this game mode is to destroy the opponent’s food storage by any means necessary. There are quirks though. No matter how strong you are, food storage will only take 1 damage from you. And it has quite a bit of HP (1000hp). So most people just take off their weapons and hit them with their bare hands to make it faster.

There are ways to win faster though. One is to have your breakers (knights or sinx) run right to the food storage and pray your enemy don’t defend their storage. Second is to take the flag in the center of the map. Doing this will summon guardians (really strong ones) to fight on your side. You can use these guardians by making them follow you. They can defend or attack, depending on who they follow and to where. When you capture the center flag, you will need to defend it too though. The enemy can retake that flag and take control of the guardians from you. That will totally ruin your day. Those guardians pack a punch.

Upon destruction of the food stores you win the game. You will be instantly transported to the cool down room. If you wish to leave, talk to the NPC in that room and claim your reward. A win will get you 3 bravery badges and a loss will give you 1. We will discuss the badges and what they do later. However after 20 mins of play and still there are no winners, the game is declared a draw.

Tierra Strategies

I. The Rush – This is one of the most common strategies applied by most Battlegrounds players. It comes in two forms, direct rush towards the middle neutrality flag to control the guardians early in the game or direct rush towards the enemy’s food storage. This strategy is recommended if your team has a lot of breakers, agi knights and LKs, Sinx’s and other high attack speed builds. The problem with this tactic is that it leaves too many holes in your defense. If the rushing players are repelled, you will be pushed to a corner in defense.

II. The Slow Crawl – This is the total inverse of the rush. Players run directly into defensive positions. Some directly towards your side’s food storage, the other one try to take the neutrality flag by killing the enemy players then breaking it. This is pretty much the safest way to do it if you have more AoE casters and less breakers in your team. However, with this strategy, you will not have an early advantage. To win, you will have to move your team, a few squares at a time until you reach the enemy’s spawn point and camp there or attack the food.

III. Camp Thy Spawn – As mentioned in the previous paragraph this is a very viable strategy. The Tierra map has definite spawn points that do not change. Luring the guardians under your control to their spawn points accomplishes this. This is aided by AoE spells like SG. This way, you can prevent your enemies from mounting a decent counter offensive. Camping the spawn may seem underhanded but it is a very effective means of enemy control.

IV. Breaking The Walls – On the west side of the Tierra maps are 2 walls. The first wall nearest your side is your wall. The wall farthest yours is the enemy’s obviously. A good alternate strategy will be to ask the breakers to break through the enemy controlled wall while the rest of your team defends the food. Breaking this wall will offer your team direct access to the enemy’s food storage from the east. This is a good strategy especially if the enemy is camping the neutrality flag and you can’t regain control of the guardians.

Flavius

Flavius starts very much like Tierra. You enter the room and wait for 19 on your side and 19 on the other side. Once completed, you are summoned to the arena. You start on opposite sides of the map with your guardians in the middle left and middle right. Each side has 2 guardians each.

The objective is to destroy all the guardians of your enemy and keep your guardians alive. Once you destroy the 2 guardians of your enemy, a third guardian will appear at the middle area of your enemy’s side. Once this guardian is destroyed you may now damage the control crystal on the same location. The Crystal only takes 1 damage per hit, regardless of strength much like the food storage of Tierra.  Once done, you get one point. Garner 2 points best of 3 games, you win.

Flavius is a longer game mode but offers the most rewards; 9 valor badges for winning, 3 for loss.
Both Flavius and Tierra Battleground arenas require a 2 minute cooldown after every battle. So you will have to wait 2 minutes after a fight to reenter the arena.

Other NPCS

At the center of the Battlegrounds staging area, (yung may malaking ilaw galling sa sahig) you will see the exit NPC (upper left) and a storage kafra (lower left) and immediately to your right is the Rewards NPC. The exit NPC kicks you out of the staging area, the kafra is where you use the storage and the rewards NPC shows you which possible rewards you can garner.

Rewards

Remember the Bravery and Valor badges discussed earlier? Ipunin niyo yun. The rewards NPC will offer you items for them. For instance, 100 valor badges gets you an excellent PVP sword and 100 bravery badges gets you a sweeter SPEAR!

Check out the Level Up Website for the details of these rewards and how many badges are needed for them. Or you can simply talk to the rewards NPC and he’ll show you the weapons and armors and items he will offer you for the badges.

Inviting People

Getting enough people to join battlegrounds may be a bother for servers who have low poppulation such as Valhalla. There are however a few tips and tricks to get Battlegrounds matches going fast. Here are a few tips.

1. The speaker:

If you have enough cash, using the megaphone for a global message is ideal. It takes 2-3 megaphones to inform people of an impending BG match. Just make sure to include the number of people already waiting on each side. Here’s a sample message:

“Battlegrounds po tayo! Need 3 more sa Croix and 1 more sa kabi Guilliarme”

Including the numbers will entice people more to join. Another trick is to fill one side with people first to get people to join the other side. Although this tip has already been done to death, it is rarely executed well.

2. Schedule it!

Another tip is to get 40 people to play on a regular basis. Talk to your guildmaster to organize your mates. Guildmasters may organize BG  matches with their guild allies to keep a regular match going. This is done after sieges idealy when most people are logged on. If you can get more than 40 people, do so. Remember that there are 2 sets of Battlegrounds arenas per game mode. 2 Flavius and 2 Tierras.

If you can create a huge group like this, the less popular Flavius game mode will be more accessible since you already have enough people. This is also a great way for your guild to get the Valor badge items for your casters.

3. PVP tambay

Visit the PVP areas. If you find enough people there, you may be able to start matches in BG. Most people will prefer BG over pvp anyway since there are no rewards in PVP.

Characters

NosTale has 3 different characters to play with: Swordsman, Archers and Sorcerers. You will have to start as Adventure first until you gain enough levels to switch to any of the 3 main class.

Swordman
Swordsmen have the highest Health Points (HP) and the lowest MP usage. They are the masters of the sword and strongest in close combat. The advantage for warriors are strong attacks and critical strikes.

Archers
Archers have a balance of HP and MP. Their specialty is using the bow and arrow. Archers’ strength lies in ranged-attacks and tactics such as hit-and-run, but arrows can run out, leaving them to rely on close-combat skills that are inferior to those of the Swordsman. Archers’ have the highest critical hit ratio among all the other classes.

Sorcerers
Sorcerers use magic and avoid physical combat. They have low HP, but a high MP. Their specialty is using a staff and excels in magic. The advantage of this class is that they have the ability to heal themselves using the skill Aura of Healing, but if they run out of MP they are more vulnerable than other classes.

Mini Land

Probably the biggest attraction for NosTale is the Mini Land where you can aquire your own land and decorate it.  You may build your own house, put lamp posts on the sides, plant trees and more that you can imagine. Its like your mini friendster for you to design and invite friends to visit.  Not only that you can design your own land, you can also place mini games for your friends to play and give rewards to the winners. Now this is something that is unique and first in Philippine MMORPG.  Hello Kitty Online to be released by Level Up! Games has the same feature but for now, NosTale wins here.

Classes

The ANL Faction
Armed & Loaded – POCHI – TNI ZG – Infinity – Elite Scara Squadron

Faction Flag bearer Armed & Loaded were held to zero points as they were unsucessful in their attempts in taking down the Honor castle in Prontera and the Carnage castle in Juno. They tried defending a scoring agit however they were repulsed many times by the other two groups. They used the “no-emblem” strategy but they were unsucessful as the other guilds were ready for it.

The group is in a turmoil this past few sieges. Their membership base were hit hard due to typhoon Frank which devastated the visayan region. There were unverified reports of infighting among some of its members however they can not be counted out. The ANL guild has a rich history, perhaps longer than any other guild here in Baldur. Do they have an ace up their sleave?

The 123 Faction
Sustainers of the Realm – Hyksos/Alliance – Heimdall’s Einherjar – Dark Descendants

Sustainers of the Realm, the AL bet of the 123 faction managed to put in moderate AL points. They held a WoE SE agit however they only managed to get a few points due to some heavy sustained attacks from the other factions. They tried chasing the Honor agit however they were just outnumbered in Lazargues, the middle prontera agit.

This faction’s challenge today is their numbers. This group had the largest population a year ago however with several players going on retirement, their numbers have dwindled to a point where they had trouble fighting against bigger factions. This groups and it’s leader Legokidd is scrappy, they will find a way to score points. Only time will tell if they can muster enough siegers and challenge the other goups for supremacy.

The ABC faction
Armada/Goonz – Bozanian Beast Fighter – Carnage – Coalescence – Godsmack – ExMachina – Genesis Rejects

The Carnage guild has the most AL points. They did this by locking down a Valor agit…the Nydeabell-Schwartzwald Castle Schatimil. They made the most of the agit’s scoring potential by maximizing its economy giving them 5 siege points per siege day. Carnage with its allies Bozanian Beast Fighter and Exmachina locked down the 1st portal and with the help of powerful WoE SE Guardians, managed to protect the castle until the end of phase 1.

The Coalescence guild along with Armada-Goonz and Genesis Rejects held the only honor scoring agit and protected it for the whole phase 1. Several break attempts from the other factions were made however with their superior number and advantage in position repulsed the attacks. There were several near misses like an EC near the emperium itself however they had ladyluck singing for them.

This faction has the numbers to win. It showed during phase 1 that even with two castles to protect, they still managed to put a guild on cavalry mode (Bozanian Beastfigher) to roam around the other agits. The question is can they keep this up for the other Phases? Let us wait and see.

We have learned from a very reliable source that the negotiations for the merger are still not final. The necessary contracts have not been signed and inRO’s initiative to post the details in their website have jumped the gun. Our source has confirmed that if there WILL be a merger it will be a long long way away. This will explain why Level Up! Philippines still has not made any announcements regarding the matter.

However in related news, Ragnaboards is now accessible to IndiaRO players. In fact, they are being welcomed by some of our Ragnaboarders. In game however, there are mixed reactions from players. Some receive the news with a grain of salt. Others however, started swearing at the idea. This is mostly because, as one indianRO player has stated, 95% of their population are botters and Valhalla server definitely anti-bot. There is also the issue of economy. Valhalla now has a stable economy with fair prices due to the regulation of prices in the hypermart. Throwing in Billions of zenny from inRO would definitely upset that balance. For how long, we could only speculate.

We will bring you more details regarding this development as they come to us.

Hold on to your horses Ragnaholics this is going to be a very very rough ride. I’ve played in cross country gaming servers before and it does entail a lot of challenges. Mas mahirap pa nga ata ito dahil sa ibang international servers, nagsimula nang ganun. Eh ito, ipagpipilitang ipagsama!

That’s a big part but they’re not done yet. Apparently even Ragnaboards is merging with indiaRagnaboards. There are too many questions to ask! What about the moderators? Ingame, what about customer support? Are we going to talk to the Indians now or do we still retain the old (at sobrang kulang kulang) customer support?

As mentioned in the website, the details are still sketchy but hell, it IS going to happen. Good luck to all of us!

On a lighter note, at least we can make new friends from across the seas. Or, new siege enemies for that matter. I just hope and pray it won’t go as rough as I imagine it.

Level Up! Games, publisher of Philippine Ragnarok Online has released its official announcement confirming the merger between Tyr Server and the PK-enabled server URDR. The merging of the two servers will commence on the first tick of the clock of April 16, that’s 12:00 midnight until 12:00 noon.

Of course no one can guarantee a smooth merging so estimated time may be extend. Well, its better that the time be extended than succumb to multiple bugs that the merger may introduce.

So what will be the new name of the new world? Don’t be surprised but my source told me that the new name is none other than… TYR! Hahahaha. Sorry for URDR, no new name to represent you. The new Tyr server will have a separate client to start with just like Valhalla, Valkyrie and URDR. URDR players must use the new client.

Some maps particularly the MVP maps of Tyr will be PK enabled just like Valkyrie. URDR players are familiar with this PK-enabled setting so Tyr players should be cautious in hunting bosses on these maps. MVP hunters will face a stiffer challenge against their co-players. You’ll never know if the Extremity Fist of a champion is directed towards the MVP monster or you. Good luck on making enemies hehe.

How to avoid Split Accounts:

1. Make sure that the number of characters does not exceed 9 characters. (Tyr characters + Urdr Characters = 9 characters) Delete nuisance characters you have made in the past.
2. Make sure that your Kafra items do not exceed 300 items. (Tyr Kafra items + Urdr Kafra items = 300 Kafra items upon merging). Throw useless items away.

Cabal Online, one of the most successful gameS of 2007 shall finally be introduce here in the Philippines by one of the country’s major MMORPG game publisher E-Games.

This game is set in the realm of Nevareth, where warriors must use Force Power to resist the evil CABAL. Sounds familiar? bleh, halos pare-pareho naman na ang kuwento ng mga paborito nating MMOG but what actually matters to us is the playability. Is it fun? Is there enough content to keep us busy? Will the graphics and sound reach my nerves? And I guess the most important question is will E-Games deliver a top-notch support to the community?

E-Games hasn’t announced any release date for the opening of the game yet. Though I guess they are still preparing for the closed beta testing (CBT). More or less a month after CBT , I suppose open beta testing will start where you will be able to join and play the game.

So what is Cabal Online? What can you expect from this game?

I have written this article to provide facts, figures and ideas on Doppelganger Card which as far as I believe is bloated on RO private server. You might be so excited to use this card on your favorite weapon and hit lock your enemy to death. Thinking probably, that the super mega ultra blazing speed you see on private servers can also be seen here on Ragnarok’s official server.

Yet those who first used the Doppelganger card were largely disappointed by the fact that it does not deliver what they expect from it. I myself once believed that this card can push your ASPD to the limit with damage numbers flowing faster than Niagara falls and I believe you’re thinking the same thing.

On this guide, I am hoping to present you facts to the real ASPD formula of the said card and hope to give you ideas on how to exploit its potential for your playing enjoyment.

Hey boy, what’re you doing here?

It was in the first few weeks of Philippine Ragnarok Online when I chanced upon a swordie beneath the Geffen dungeon. I know the dungeon is a bit creepy and hard for this swordie’s level and since I was a priest I tried to approach him, hoping to help him get out. Suddenly this swordie swiftly run straight towards me and *bang* im dead. Shocked, this boy’s avatar and movement is different. It made me draw the conclusion that this is not a normal player. I checked his name and browsed some Ragnarok guides and was surprised to learn that an MVP killed me – the name is Doppelganger.

I’m sure some of you have had similar stories with Doppelganger and vowed someday you’ll take revenge. That’s not all, part of your vengeance is a lingering hope that this monster would drop his prized card, the card which all of us believed would push our attack speed to the limit.

Doppelganger Card has a 0.01% chance to be drop, has an attribute “Enable to Fast-Attack all the time” and can be inserted to any weapon. Now, the description failed to provide the exact number therefore players began to speculate to its real benefit. Early RO private servers set this card to +50 ASPD. Players began to believe this and wasted no time in hunting Doppelganger hoping to blitz their opponents with fast attack speed. Up until this date, there were still players who believe these bloated numbers and few players who actually own this card sent complaints to the official distributor explaining that the card is bugged because it gives way below what they expected.

The Gods Blessed us with a Card

Philippine Ragnarok Online will start to sell MVP cards weeks after Valkyrie and Valhalla server was introduced. On March 5, 2008, Doppelganger Card will be available for 7,000 RoK Points. Players who have extra cash in their pockets can buy it through the Armory of Gods by buying LU game cards and converting it to RoK Points. Each 100 denominated game card is equal to 2,000 RoK Points so you will be needing PHP350.00 to accumulate 7,000 RoK Points. You can buy as many cards as your pocket will allow you and this card’s availability is limited probably for the whole month of March. After March (not sure on this) this card will no longer be available in the Armory.

You Say Numbers

The card’s description only tells us that this card will “Enable to Fast-Attack all the time” but doesn’t give the exact % not unlike Cecil Damon Card which explicitly tells us that it gives additional 5% ASPD at the cost of -30 hits. We are expecting higher numbers than Cecil Damon Card because Doppelganger Card is in fact a card dropped by an MVP.

ratemyserver.net steps up and includes a private server script they used for the card.

From that script, it states that Doppelganger card is giving 10% ASPD. The number might be different from the official one but at least it brings us closer to the fact. We will assume that Doppelganger is indeed giving 10% ASPD bonus.

Truth Shall Set Us Free

I loaded game time for my account so I could use it on Sakray. I asked one game tester there to supply me 9 pieces of Doppelganger Card, 9 pieces Cecil Damon Card, 2 Main Gauche [1], 2 Composite Bow [1] and an Infiltrator [1].

I will use the battle build Scholar with auto-bolt and blitzer build Hunter. I chose them because they relied heavily on ASPD to cast their main killing skill — auto-bolt for scholar and auto-blitz for sniper.

iRO Wiki posted this ASPD formula and we will be using this to validate our test.

Auto-Bolter Scholar

I am not here to make a complete scholar guide instead I will just focus on auto-bolter build.

Auto-bolter scholar relies heavily on his ASPD to activate his auto-bolt spell. With only 25% as his maximum chance to cast, it is highly advisable that he hit his opponent as fast as possible. Rules dictate that the more he hits, the higher the chance that his auto-bolt skill will trigger.

I was able to reach 181 ASPD with my level 99 fully buffed, high agi sage using Neo Sage Diary. With that speed, I was able to take down Ice Titan almost easily. Now that I have a professor at Sakray, I wish to try the benefits of a quad carded main gauche. Will Doppelganger card beat my fastest 181 ASPD? Let’s find out.

The bonus ASPD is astonishingly fast and was able to kill Ice Titan in an average of 10 seconds. Auto-bolt is triggered like theres no tomorrow coupled by the double bolt for double damage.

Blitzer build Hunter

A Hunter’s best friend is his/her falcon. Pumping Luck and Agi enable their falcons to have more chances of blitzing through enemies disregarding the thickness of their armor.

A happy falcon kills your enemy dead in seconds therefore it is necessary that you keep the falcon flying. With doppelganger card, your ASPD will increase dramatically giving your falcon more chances to fly.

Conclusion

The Doppelganger card is not for everybody. Though it makes your ASPD faster, your ability to deal damage through damage-modifier-cards like hydra (bloody) is negated, making your damage weaker and I guess it will hurt more than benefit characters who rely on weapon damage.

Nevertheless, certain builds can exploit its full potential and stacking 4 of them on a single weapon will yield better results. Auto-bolter sage/scholar’s ability to inflict damage through their bolts is deadlier than ever. Couple this with Soul Linker’s Spirit of Sage and you have him in god mode.

Same with Blitzer build Hunter and Sniper. They can literally hit lock their opponent and kill mobs instantly by giving their falcons enough chances to fly.

There’s a lot more possibilities for Doppelganger Card that I chose not to cover here. It’s up to you to find out.

Which game boasts a population greater than Sweden, Israel or Haiti? Online role-playing phenomenon World of Warcraft is the answer: Blizzard Entertainment announced this week that subscriber counts for its smash hit fantasy RPG recently broke the 10 million mark. Warcraft players number more than 2.5m in North America, while Asian subscribers account for the majority of the remainder.

The new figures — which Blizzard attributes to new and returning players signing up over the holiday season — cements the game’s position as the runaway leader of the lucrative massively multiplayer genre. World of Warcraft is expected to receive its second expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King, later this year.

Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime commented in a press release: “It’s very gratifying to see gamers around the world continuing to show such enthusiasm and support for World of Warcraft. We’re always pleased to welcome new players to the game, and we’re looking forward to sharing the next major content update with the entire community in the months ahead.”

Just today, Level Up! Games, publisher of the number 1 MMORPG game in the country, adds a new headgear that can be bought at the Armory of the Gods for 10,000 Rok Points or Php500.00. The new headgear is Baphomet Horns named from one of the famous MVPs of Ragnarok Online.

The new headgear boasts an additional 12% damage to demi-human (perfect sa PVP at WoE), refinable and can be worn by all job classes inlcuding novices. There’s no level restriction kaya naman pwede mo itong suotin kahit bagong gawa pa lang ang character mo.

Carlo Ople, Level Up! Games Marketing Manager, first posted the introduction of this new headgear on his blog at Waukster Online. He wrote that Philippine Ragnarok Online is lucky because this headgear is first implemented here. Mas nauna pa po tayo sa Japan at Korea!

Visitors of his blog began to appreciate the new headgear and even compared this to Alice Doll which only gives 10% damage to demi-human.

Baphomet Horns will be sold for an introductory price of 10,000 Rok Points (Php500.00) for the first two weeks and will be sold higher after. I already bought mine for my battle sage not because of the extra damage but because of its cuteness.

Usage:
Baphomet cards are best used for Thief class, Swordsman class, and Archer class with high dex. Since critical and other skills don’t stack with it. Why high dex? Because it has a -10 penalty to hit. Having a splash attack will let you kill several monsters/players just by hitting a single target. Haha! Like killing 2 birds with one stone!

My judgement
Another boss card added to the Armory of Gods, another reason to lose the sense of hunting. In time, Valkyrie and Valhalla will be considered servers for the rich. Business as usual

Triva! Trivia!
The name Baphomet can be traced back to the end of the Crusades, when the medieval order of the Knights Templar was suppressed by King Philip IV of France. On Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip had many French Templars simultaneously arrested, and then tortured for confessions. The name Baphomet came up in several of these confessions, in reference to an idol of some type that the Templars were said to have been worshipping.
